We always aim to have a minimum of two members of sports and wellbeing staff on throughout these times, aiming to always deliver the timetable above to the highest of standards and allow for one to one personal training sessions throughout the days to be on offer.

Sports and Awareness Days

 

Each month we plan our sports and wellbeing sessions around specific themes and events that are happening in the world of sports, health and wellbeing, as well as our own key themes that we believe will bring benefit to our young people. All sessions are then planned and delivered to ensure we are providing young people with lifelong skills that can be utilised within employment, relationships and daily living including…

 

Please be aware that due to the current Coronavirus pandemic we have had to adapt and change some of the planned activities, however wherever possible we want to keep things as structured as possible for our young people so will work hard to maintain the plan where possible.

Major Sports Events / Activities

Tennis French open: 25th May – 1st June
  • Weekly skills sessions
  • Tennis games on the Wii
  • Watching past tennis games and highlights of tournament on you tube
FA cup final: 23rd May
  • Throughout the week building up to the 23rd May we will focus sessions around football skills, fitness and knowledge of the game
  • On the 23rd we will relax, watch the game and enjoy some light refreshments
UEFA champions league final: 30th May
  • Enjoy the big game live, watch some past highlights and enjoy some light refreshments
  • Get creative with some arts and crafts designing your own football kit!

Awareness days / Activities

Mental health awareness week: 18th May
  • Holistic health and wellbeing starts within the mind
  • Throughout the week we will be holding some awareness sessions focused around managing mental health
  • We all need a little help and support at times, and during the week we will build awareness of contacts that can give that little bit of support
Meditation day: 21st May
  • Complete a session learning what meditation is, and how we can utilise this to benefit our overall wellbeing
Digestive health day: 29th May
  • We will be running a workshop around what we can do in order to promote good digestive health
  • Key nutritional facts around digestive health
  • Disorders and conditions of the digestive system and how we can help prevent/ manage these

June

Major Sports Events / Activities

Euro 2020
  • Throughout the Euro 2020 we will be holding a weekly football tournament throughout the day
  • We will be selecting old football classics and highlights from You tube in order to bring some football action to the big screen! Including some light refreshments
Canadian Grand Prix: 14th June
  • 1pm Watch you tube videos of past races and biographies of past drivers
  • 3pm Play racing games on the WII
NBA layoffs and finals – throughout
  • On a separate day throughout the week we will be holding a basketball tournament each week
  • We will be selecting some you tube games and highlights to watch to bring some basketball action to the big screen! Including some light refreshments
Golf USA Open: 18th – 21st June
  • We have some individual session plans for throughout the month that will focusing on some golf chip and putt sessions
  • If we have enough interest we will look into visiting a local driving range to have a go at some long range drives!
  • We will select some you tube highlights and watch the USA open on TV when it is on the TV
Tour de France: 27th June – 19th July
  • Throughout the Tour de France we will be setting some cycling challenges on our spin bike
  • We will watch some of the Tour de France on the TV and enjoy the skills and talents on display
Tennis Wimbledon: 29th June – 6th July
  • Weekly tennis skills sessions and challenges
  • Play tennis games on the Wii 
  • Watching past Wimbledon tournaments

National teen self-esteem month
  • On select days at 4pm we will be holding awareness sessions around the effects of media and social media
  • Discussion points during sports and gym sessions regarding body confidence and positivity
World Asthma Awareness Day: 2nd June
  • 1pm asthma awareness session of how to improve condition management
  • 3pm – asthma first aid awareness course
Vegetarian Week: 13th June
  • Each day during this week at 1pm we will be exploring tasty and varied recipes and discussing the many health
